In 2003 Mr. Parish, The Santiago Performing Arts Department Chair, posted the flyer for the Rose Parade Honor Band auditions. Cindy Wade, a mother of three sons, saw the poster and had her eldest, Bryan audition. In 2004, he made it and was the first and only Santiago High student to be in the Rose Parade Honor Band.
The Rose Parade Honor Band is made up of both Pasadena City College students and high school students from local schools. Sometimes students come from as far as Santa Clarita, San Diego, or Apple Valley. More than 600 students audition
This winter, the Fender Center’s Rhythm Lounge will present a special three part concert series hosted by Steve Brazil of KCAL Radio. This televised series will begin on February 28th at 8:00 p.m. with Deana Carter. It will continue on February 18, featuring David Pack, and finally its grand finale will end with Max Carl on March 17th.
